I will not be using any Datacron guides, personally. But, you know, if you want to cheat...

Yeah, I think I want to try and find these myself. Once I have most of them I might use a guide. We'll see.
Thanks, Duncan

Gotta find em all datacrons! Like Bd said it is good to know how many per planet at least even if you don't want to use it to find them. Stumbling around a planet after finding them all without knowing would be kinda silly unless it tells you in game that is. I don't believe I've ever found all of them on a planet during testing.

Wanted to save all that reading for the release date.

I can't remember seeing any on Korriban....
Of course, I fully intend to use guides to find them. You say cheating, I say time saving use of available resource.
The very first offered to you is out on the far East side of the map on the ridge above the Archaeologist. Take a tangent right when heading into the Tombs quests out that way.
The general rule of thumb is to look in an opposite direction from the Datacron site for the most roundabout way to get at the object. On Korriban, Taris, Tython, and Dromond Kaas, the Datacrons are generally findable and navigable with little problem. On Coruscant, however, they have the most intricate, annoying, pissyouofftonoend Tomb-Raider-esque jump/walk/balance minute control locations for getting to the ones I could see in the Justicar and Black Sun Zones. (two hints, remember to 1: LOOK UP, and 2: Look Away) Definitely not intuitive, definitely not easy, and very prone to have you plummet to massive damage right within aggro range of mobs.

That's fair enough. I don't mind knowing which subzones have them, and which ones don't.

The one on Taris above the pit hanging out of the engine -- I couldn't get the jump to work right off the ship, gave up in frustration and moved on after spending an hour attempting it.

First and Main character no guide to level 50, will enjoy exploring and hey who's to say datacrons are the only thing out there to find. Plus nothing cooler than somone leading you to a hidden datacron they just found that has a very cool in-game feel to it. third, forth ...twelth time round yeah I'll prob use a guide since my memory is so bad I'll have forgotten the locations but still remember enough that I know I have missed them and get frustrated

I thought it showed you how many were available in the Codex entry for the planet. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure there was something in there about the Datacrons, either how many you've found on the planet, or how many are available.
