This week on Threat Detected, Khalic builds a prototype starship. Tor takes on a padawan, and we talk with Dawn of Defiance Creator, Rodney Thompson. The show can be downloaded at http://threat-detected.com/2011/10/13/e ... overt.aspx

Listened to this last Friday, and was cracking up over Varth's meltdown at how the PCs handled their "covert" mission to Bespin. BTW, did you use Rodney's face for Varth? If so, that is funny.
Kudos on handling the "intermission" segment to let the various PCs do their own things to great ready for the next adventure.
Interview with Rodney was cool, particularly his insights on Essentials and NPC design. Looking forward to the rest of it.

Nah, Varth is played by Dennis Franz in my game. I put Rodney in Imperial uniform as Grand Admiral Thompson, who appears in easter eggs in my videos, on vid screens in the background. Glad you liked the show. Covert was one of my better improv moments. Garrett

Hey all! I am finally getting around to listening to this podcast. I simply have too many of them I am listening to lately. Great interview with Mr. Thompson. Tony: You want pure D&D? Try 1st edition Advanced. Just sayin'... Garrett: Did I hear you correctly in that you are playing a Middle-Earth Essentials game? How are you managing that? Can you elaborate?

I adapted the MERP mod Pirates of Pelagir to 4th Ed as a month-long campaign run at a local war store. I used http://www.dnd-wiki.org/wiki/Middle_Ear ... Setting%29to complement the Essentials races, and we went to town. This Saturday I'm running the opening battle at the local MiniCon. PM me if you'd like my adaptation writeup. Garrett

Concerning source books used during the campaign, apart from the core book, I have relied on the following for Dawn of Defiance:
The Clone Wars Campaign Guide (My kids' PCs started in this era at the end of Revenge of the Sith) The Force Unleashed Starships of the Galaxy Threats of the Galaxy Galaxy At War The Unknown Regions (this was a recent addition to our game and am using it primarily for our interlude session between "Queen" and "Echoes")
Thanks for posing my questions to Rodney! He provided some valuable input into the scope of the campaign.
Heh. I loved Maverick as well.
On a different note, concerning your questions posed on facebook... I think it might be a valuable thing to have more shows devoted to actually running the DoD campaign outside of the actual gaming podcasts. Call it BFTG's Guide to Dawn of Defiance or Garrett's DoD workshop or whatever. In it, you can review the modules, suggest tweaks here and there, offer praise and/or ciriticisms, invite Tony and others to offer their ideas on running the campaign, etc.
What say you?

The DoD workshop sounds cool, but what kind of stuff would you like to hear about? Garrett

Chiefly, I'd like to hear module reviews and of ideas to alter them here or there with an eye to improve them.
