Threat Detected will be going to GenCon this year, and we're running the Traitor's Gambit. No, this isn't how I ran it with my Buffalo group but how I think I would run it if I could do everything over. We're moving the timeline to the New Jedi Order, so yes there will be Vong.
For those of you going to GenCon, you can play one or both of the four and a half hour long sessions as we try to get off of Sel Zonn Station. The games will be Friday 1-5:30 then 6-10:30pm.
Build your own first level character for the first session or second level character for the second. I'll have pregens if you prefer.
Be advised this will be recorded for a special edition of the Threat Detected Podcast, so if you don't want to be on the podcast, please do not sign up for this session. Any questions? Contact barefoottourguide at gmg@threat-detected.com

Incredible. We're sold out for the NJO Traitor's Gambit. I should've run two sessions of these. Any listeners manage to get into these sessions? Anyone interested in a pickup of NJO Traitor's on Thursday night?

For building our characters, are we using the regular DoD guidelines regarding ability scores and equipment availability?

Standard DoD builds. No restricted/military gear without a good backstory reason. Are you in the official running, Dono, or are you thinking pickup?

I got tix for the official versions.

Now to see what I can cook-up. Knowing me, will probably conjure up a few different PCs to bring along.

I can't wait. I'm having a blast reworking Traitor's for NJO. Hopefully everyone will have fun playing it. Do you know if there's a way to see who's signed up for my events at Gencon?

And I was also able to sign up for it. It will actually be my first game of SWSE (imagine that!). Games always fill up fast at Gen Con. Thousands of people attending, limited slots.

Looking forward to it. See you then.

RPG1124763 & RPG1124763
Grab the last golden ticket.

Out of curiosity, how many of y'all were able to get a ticket for the Friday NJO Traitor's Gambit at GenCon?

Just signed up to run a DnD game, which brings my GMing total up to 41 hours between Thurs and Sat. For sanity's sake, I'm nixing any continuation of the Traitor's Gambit as a pickup game. Sorry gang. I'll post the second part on the blog.

You're either very brave, or very insane Garrett!

Played both sessions, and let me firstly say that this was an absolute blast, especially the 2nd half.

First half was hampered (by no fault of BFTG) by the fact that in spite of it being a "sold-out event", about half the folks that bought tickets didn't show. Seems rather foolish to spend that much money on an event and then not bother to show up, but there may be circumstances of which I remain unaware. So be it.

I'd opted to play the Jedi I had made, a young Human Male by the name of Alwyn Reezaki, who was more of a Force wizard though not totally helpless when it came to using a lightsaber (particularly after snagging Weapon Focus at 2nd level). To be honest, I'd forgotten how tricky it can be for a 1st level Jedi and only having a small suite of Force powers. But god damn did I make good use of Force Slam in several encounters, and even got to pull off a TFU-style Witwer-esque move by waiting for another PC to open a blast door so that I could unleash a readied Force Slam. Came pretty close to dying (single digit hit points), and pretty much barreled from one encounter into another with pretty much an empty Force suite to rescue an NPC. So it seems that like a great many of my young Jedi characters, Alwyn too suffers from Chronic Hero Syndrome.

2nd half was far more lively and a good deal less serious, and I think we actually had 9 people, as someone used one of the other pregen characters I'd made (the Wookiee Scout Garbecca). And having that many people really helped liven things up. Things got a bit raunchy towards the end, so some folks may be offended by some of the comments that got tossed around.

The end segment, particularly with some of the NPCs we got to meet after the adventure, was a very cool touch for this NJO-set version of Traitor's Gambit. Though I personally don't care for the NJO setting, I could have a bit of fun with a tale or two involving Alwyn in this very trying time, particularly given he's 16 and whom one of the NPCs in the end segment was. I won't say anything more just yet, so as to avoid spoilers, but I'm very much looking forward to listening to this in the weeks to come.

Would also like to add that Smuggler's Paradise stepped in to run one of the encounters on Friday, both to give Garrett a chance to step away to get some food, but also to hone his GMing chops. Have to say he did good, as the combat did not drag at all.

Also, I think there enough free plugs at the end after the adventure had wrapped.

If I had one complaint, it was my choice of seating, as it made it very hard to see the videos that Garrett had made, but that's more my fault than anything. Still, hoping they end up on his Youtube channel soon so that I can see them :)

Though now that I think about it, I have to wonder what fate befall the aging Falleen diva who nearly got sucked out a hull breach in the opening skill challenge? Alwyn had managed to stabilze her in spite of not being trained in Treat Injury, and found it amusing that I became the default medic due to having the best Wisdom modifier.

I almost said what I thought happened to Mylla, but realized that would just drop a load of spoilers. Will return to this later. I'd like to thank Dono and all listeners (and hopefully new listeners) for playing this total of nine hour game. I amazingly enough felt strong and energetic at the end even. I'll post the videos that go along with the game segments as they're released in the podcast... that sounded odd. When a clip is played in the podcast, I'll put it at youtube.com/houseofwookies... where I post all the DoD videos... when I remember to. Great convention! Great to meet all of you. Thank you for your support by playing and listening.
Garrett
