Ok, I simply do not get this concept and open myself to great knowledge.
I love the Kingmaker map folio and luckly, I bought it after I had bought and read book one. Having that as my "experience", I don't understand why the map folio for Skull and Shack is slated, in my opinion, "late".
I get that not every GM buy these, but for those of us that do, they are soooooo nice to have. Granted, you've got the pdf to print off yourself and yah, I get that. In terms of KingM, this was a great handout. The Hex maps are simply too good not to be handy and an fun way of players to have and use for their planning.
So, why make the maps available AFTER the last book? Is it a publishing thing? a timing thing? a money thing?
*shrug*

It's a timing thing - they don't actually have all the maps in for all the AP books by the time the first one goes to print, or even the third probably. Kingmaker was an easy one and came out early because the maps were found in the 1st/2nd books already. It's a frustration, admitedly, but most AP games don't start *right* at the beginning of the release schedule (though two of mine did), and most can't keep pace, so the folio comes out and is useful eventually.

I beg to differ - 2 of the maps in the Kingmaker map folio were not published until book 5 of the AP.

That makes sense. My Kingmaker game started right after my first read-through (I know, I should have spent more time I was trying to imagin how hard it would be to kick out say book 2 and the mapfoilo at the same time. I was thinking that your effort would be, as a publisher, to focus on that book 2 so the resources would need to go there. That's about all I could come up with.
