We have an idea, and wondering if you have community input as to this concept.

Would you, as a d20radio community, be willing to back a Patreon or similar campaign where a monthly contribution (say $15-$20) got you a game of your choice with a DM/GM of your choice on a variety of systems, over skype/roll20 or some equivalent?

GM Chris and FFG Star Wars, Perhaps another for D&D, Pathfinder, or whatnot? We offer these one time kickstarter rewards for a bunch of modules and a game with Chris, but this is just an RPG campaign, with one of the trusted GMs in the d20Radio family.

Anyway, we are mulling this over. The GM, by the way, gets paid for running it, that's where the money goes, only a small part (10-20%) goes to d20Radio to pay any unforseen costs of setting up our own servers for voice streaming or something.

I have been a GM for a really great group for a long time and I love doing it. I have always gone the extra mile for these guys and that is due in part to the fact that they never let me chip in for food and drinks. The first time I tried they said that I was doing enough having brought "the game" itself to the party. Their appreciation of me inspired me. It didn't render the thing down to a "job" I was doing but rather gave me a warm fuzzy feeling just knowing they liked what I was doing. I think a nominal fee for GMing is a good idea on the basis that it validates and motivates the moving parts of a game.

$30 for 4-5 hours of RPGing with a quality GM a month? That's cheaper than going to the movies. And I get to socialize with others while participating in a shared story experience?

I put in a vote for 10 a month but could be convinced to go higher, there's just some factors I'd need to know, which will probably be able to be answered as this idea takes a more cohesive form.

What day would it be run on? If I have a conflict of schedule am I still required to pay for that month? My assumption is yes from a logistics standpoint for you guys, but I think it's still a good question to ask.

In short, I love the idea, just need more info.

I agree with GM Brev. When you think about it $30 for a 4-5 hour session is not that much at all.

There aren't many activities you can do for $7.50 per hour.

Also, this would have seemed like a pipe dream just a few years ago, but with technology, we are finally getting to a point where distance doesn't mean much for RPGing!

This sounds like a wonderful idea to me!!!!! Its so difficult these days to find a group to play what I want to play with. You would'nt think it would be like pulling teeth to find a group to play some star wars with in NYC...

I've actually considered this potential business opportunity last year. If I had only the time to test the waters in this respect, I might actually start marketing for it in my area as well as on line.

My thoughts at this time on the matter as a means of suggestion for Chris and Dave, would be to run a Patreon campaign and make this a benefit for your top level patrons.

I would pay.

Unfortunately I can't pay to have more time in the week to actually play in it.
