So I ran into this app and rpg on kickstarter and it looks pretty cool, I like the idea at least. Does anyone else think having an app to keep track of all the combat and mechanics would be worth having or would it detract from the gaming experience? (Despite being able to input your own dice rolls)

I don't know how much better an idea it would be, but the real value is to have an app that amounts to a rules based decision engine that allows you to input your own variables for feats or talents, or whatever they are called, along with base stats and let the engine take it from there.

This is a cool deal, but a little limited in my opinion to being hard coded to achieve the desired response.

Apps are too clunky. I'd rather use a laptop.

Laptops are too clunky. I use a homemade version of the Gamemastery combat pad. I bought a letter-sized dry-erase board and some magnetic dry-erase tabs that I write player and monster info on and I just move them around the board to represent initiative and conditions. I've gotten plenty of positive comments about how my games stay "on track" and we finish modules and adventures quicker than other groups running the same adventure.

Plus, it doesn't need batteries or an electrical outlet.
