I'm always on the search for quality miniatures at a reduced price. I wanted to share this opportunity with you before it's too late! Our good friends at Miniature Market are blowing out their entire line of Alkemy minis by Kraken Editions. (A Euro start-up that fell flat on their faces) These are high quality injected plastic figures - Assembly and painting required. Starters (with 5 figs) that retailed for $35 are going for $9. Reinforcement Sets (with 3-5 figs) that retailed for $25-$35 are going for $7. Kingdom of Avalon (Humans) The Jade Triad Empire (Human - Perfect for Tian applications) The Aurlock Nation (Beast-men and Foresty Critters) The Khaliman Republic (Cat People) If you take advantage of these, I'd love to see some of your build results! Enjoy. Live 2 Game. Game 2 Live. ~@~

I've admired these for a while. Going to have to drop some cash on them! Thanks for the heads up!

Two years later, they've still got some of these in stock. Problem is, I can't see where the scale is listed. Are these compatible with the WizKids Pathfnder minis?

Speaking of frugal GMing, I'd love to see a sticky post on the forums with hints and tips from and for GM's about how to make their gaming sessions easier or more engaging on a budget. I have a few posts at my blog about the "ghetto minis" that I've been working on; things that I've found at yard sales, estate sales, discount stores, etc. I'd love to share that info, but I don't feel right just posting a new topic to point to my blog. Too much like spam for me.

Nice. I also found that Party City, a nationwide party-supply chain, carries lots of small plastic animals that fit the 28-30mm scale quite well. They're a softer plastic than the Paizo and D&D minis, but they take acrylic paints nicely, and most of them are painted well enough to just base. They're 10¢ to 35¢ and sold out of plastic bins.

I'm currently working on converting a Marvel Incredible Hulk figure to a Pathfinder compatible flesh golem. Still in the planning stages, but when he's finished he'll be to scale and perfect for running Trial of the Beast from the Carrion Crown AP. I started playing Trial of the Beast under our old GM, but he isn't gaming anymore, so it looks like the only way I'll get to enjoy the AP is to reboot it and run it for my group. I find myself in that situation a lot these days. I can't find GM's to run games in my area, so I end up running games when I'd rather be playing.

Hey, Az. Do you have any of the D&D Miniatures invisible characters markers? Those mini markers you posted remind me of the invisible tokens. I've never used any of them. Seems like they'd be fun to use though. I'm trying to figure out how to make my own on a scrollsaw using some sheet acrylic.

I found this Magnetic White Board by Quartet at WalMart for only $3.99US. It's not the Gamemastery Combat Pad, but it will work for the Frugal DM. Comes with a couple of magnetic tacks and a dry-erase marker with eraser. It's letter size, so it fits in a box with game books. I already had a set of magnetic labels that are also dry-erase. I found them in the trash at work. Score! Normally the set of labels is $9.99US, although I'm sure some of the frugal DM's here can find a better bargain than that.

Went to Toys R Us and got the bucket of Pirates for the Large Skeletons that was mention a couple of casts ago. But they raised the price to 12.99 from 7.99. Still thats about a buck a piece for Large Skeletons, plus some scenery things. Not a bad deal. Now to paint and mount on cut out stands. Looking at all the toys and stuff I wonder if its not better to scale up on the figures and play on a 1.5 inch grid. I mean if you just getting started.

Found these yesterday at Dollar Tree. They were each $1US. The dragons are on a scale with the Pathfinder Black Dragon, but with smaller wings. Yes, they're ugly, but they're cheap and once I put them on bases and repaint them, they should be passable. Especially for a buck each! The lizard guy, from the big-budget Spider-Man flop, is about the size of the Ogre from the WizKids Pathfinder minis. I can lengthen his snout and add some spines, or maybe just stat him out as a lizard-man hybrid. In any case, he came already based on a large-sized base (but oval, that's weird.) Anyway, just more of my "cheapo minis" that I find at discount stores, estate sales, etc.
