Anyone have any experience with First Edition/ OSRIC (I understand that they are completely compatible)? I'm thinking of getting some of my friends who are into fantasy because of Skyrim into DND, but I'm unsure whether to use OSRIC or 4th Edition. I've never played OSRIC, but I have played 4e half a dozen times and thought it was ok, albeit a bit complex. I've never played any other editions, but would be open to doing Pathfinder/ 3.5 if I was convinced it was the better option.

So, whats the deal. Could I get some completely new roleplayers into OSRIC? Or should I just stick with 4e?

Thanks a ton in advance,
Jedi_Rabbit

First edition AD&D or classic all the way. Check out d20 radio podcasts RFI or Save or Die for details.

Personally, I love Pathfinder, it's a great system. But, if 4e is "a bit complicated" then 3.5/PF is quantum rocket science, and I don't think that's even a thing. The 4e rules are a MASSIVE simplification of 3.5 (which is what drove many people away from it). So in other words, I'd guess you'd be happy with OD&D but from that post you probably wouldn't like 3.5
