I'm starting a Pathfinder campaign soon. So far it looks good but I'm a little worried about people dying. No one wants to be a Cleric or Paladin (which I'm fine with), so there's no magical healing. The Ranger, however, is going to have a decent bonus to Heal. However, RAW he can only tend serious wounds once per day on the same creature. Could I house rule this, maybe make it something like 1/2 lvl +Wis mod times per day? Do I really need to worry about it?

Thanks in advance.

I've actually got the same thing happening with my group.

You can always substitute a cleric's healing powers with cure potions and wands.

Alternatively, you could implement a second wind or breather mechanic like 4e, Star Wars Saga, or Dragon Age, which is what I've decided to do. Basically you can recover 1/4 of your total HP once per day. This allows parties to get back in the fight, but still limits how many fights they can get in per day.

I've also changed the Heal skill application of First Aid to what Star Wars Saga does: Use a standard action to use first aid once per day against DC 15. If you beat the DC, the character regains hp equal to level, +1 per point by which the check beats 15, ie. ranger has +8 in Heal and uses first aid on fighter, rolls a total of 20. Fighter is 5th level, so he regains 10 hp (5 for level, 5 for beating the DC by 5).

Oooooooh awesome I get to use SWSE rules in Pathfinder!?

I forgot about the potions and stuff too, that could be pretty useful.
