This weekend, I'm going to play in my first Pathfinder game. I played 3.5 back in the day but it's been a while (SAGA and 4th ed in between). Any advice? We're starting at 8th level and it will be in Eberron. To play up the Dragonmarked houses, the DM is giving us the Least and Lesser Dragonmark feats from 3.5 for free. I want to play an investigator with the smarmy Maltese Falcon talk your way out of anything combined with a Harry Dresden-like resourcefulness, though maybe without the arcane stuff. I'm not looking for a full min-maxed build. Instead, just some recommendations as well as major rules changes to be aware of, things like that. I don't know if I'll have time to read through every option so I'm enlisting the help of the gamer nation. Thanks.

I am actually new to D&D 3.5. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but Pathfinder and 3.5 are really the same game, with very very slight differences. Pathfinder adds a few additional classes. Pathfinder and 3.5 should be completely inter-compatible. Some players are going to use 3.5 rules, some will use Pathfinder rules. Its pretty arbitrary which system you decide to learn. It's only the GM that actually needs to know the differences. this is the way it was explained to me. I did recently find a pdf that explains all the differences. I can find the reference if you're interested.
