well kinda

so apprently once you hit VA you can no longer earn Marks of Honor or Exploration and instead switch over to earning emblems which while good for some mk XI weapons is worse for some things like shields and deflectors.

meaning if you don't get yourself 52 marks and e.g. nice purple capx3 shields at Upper Admiral you can basically never get them !

now if you've been sitting on RA5 for months waiting for the update odds are you have all the purple gear you could ever want, however if you never reached RA5 before season 2 like me , your racing aginst the skill clock to earn enough marks to get some purple gear before your pushed into VA.

I realsied this at level 47 and if my caculations are correct I should have just enough skill points left to complete 7 dailies over the next 7 days and earn the last 35 marks I need for 55 marks and access to 1 purple item.
need about 6000 skill points for VA and each daily grants about 850 skill points give or take

But here's the sucky kicker !

I can't do any other missions , PERIOD ! not a single mission , hell I can't even shoot random space encoutners becuase each kill gives you skill points. double HELL I can't even do the exploration daily since I need 55 marks of one type to buy sothing worth 52 since you can't pool those marks !!!

I'm stuck doing the bear minimum PvP daily for 7 days lest I miss out on some nice purple shields forever.
UGH even worse I can't do anything while waiting for PvP queues , now that will suck XD

so yeah

ITS A TRAP !

Appologies that I can't run any mission with any of you for the next week since that'll earn me those pesky skill points and push me into VA before I've got thsoe 52 marks

Something just occurred to me, would you still be able to earn Marks of Valor if you never spend those last few captain points to achieve Vice Admiral 1? That way you could still earn marks for Purple Gear.

Hrmmm

Hadn't considered that, you do need to spend the points to increase your rank , although the system does seem to level you up automatically.

I guess it would depend on if the missions given are based on your current level or your current rank.

intersting I wonder if that would also apply to which PvP matches you are given access to and whether or not when you reach level 51 if you still stay in RA PvP until you spend those last few Skill points.

I'll end up testing the theory anyway in a few more days then everyone else will know one way or the other for thier charcters

VA1 here and I just got my 5 marks of Exploration in B'Tran

This brings me to another question...Which B'Tran Cluster are you going into, V? Have you tried going into the Regular one, not the Vice Admiral one?

I get the (5) Mark of Exploration in the regular B'Tran along with the explorers badges. In the Vice Admiral B'Tran I get the Emblems just like I should.

nice although you can't do that with pvp so your limited to 5 marks/day but hey at least you can keep earning them
