Wouldn't it be odd or neat to still have the one actress who stands by him to the end... and maybe Johnny is willing to protect at risk to himself? Maybe when they're shown into his office to break the news to him, they see the pair through a doorway, talking quietly with obvious affection, her hand on his face.
Then the lady shows up in the final scene and throws herself between the villain and the PCs. How they deal with it--and more interestingly, how "Johnny" deals with it--can be very telling and dramatic. Maybe the PCs are reluctant to fire for the sake of hurting her, but "Johnny" rips right through her like she wasn't even there, because now that his secret is exposed, she matters to him less than nothing... I dunno. I'm reticent to put something like this into the game. The idea that I got was to show that this guy, despite whatever organic bits he still has, isn't human anymore. Humanizing him by showing a scene like that really seems to run against that. Personally, if I were to run this, I'd try to work it where the more the PCs deal with Johnny, the more and more uneasy they get about him. Nothing that's going to put up immediate red flags or ruin the ending, but some things that just feel... off about him the more they deal with him. Rage when their kicked out of the studio... a slightly disaffected attitude when he finds out the doctor is dead... stuff like that.

I just started listening to this episode, finally. It's been a busy couple of weeks.
I had to laugh, though, when you erroneously called my name. Unless somebody was hanging out in the chatroom using my identity, I'm not the one who bought the Clone Wars on iTunes. I've been purchasing the bluray discs, and I wasn't in Echo Base that day.
I guess I'm flattered you know my name well enough to randomly pull it out of a hat, though!

IIRC, there was someone in chat under the user name THE_PSEUDONYM. I just assumed it was you as well.

OK. So now I have now come to the end of the regular show and am overwhelmed with the collective creativity eschewing from my computer's audio delivery system.
I do hope that you folks put this together into a digital module format. It was very intriguing. I liked the Firefily-esque maguffin, particularly.

That's the problem with having an identity that's based entirely on the fact that you don't have an identity. Or, as Granny Weatherwax put it, "Let me get this straight. You recognized him because he was wearing a mask?"

For a sequel to this adventure you have a producer hire the PCs to recover a recently stolen final cut of an updated and improved version of a beloved trilogy of holos.

That's a fair point, Cyril. All I would add is that the first encounter with the guy needs to set up a false understanding of the character strong enough that naturally-suspicious PCs have a seemingly-genuine reason to trust the celebrity enough to work for him. A witnessed scene of affection helps set that up, and can look perfectly genuine on first impression; only later, as the PCs are growing suspicious of their employer, do they come to realize that the tenderness was feigned. (The guy is a celebrated actor, after all.) When the NPC snaps and discards the girl without a speck of remorse or hesitation, it pays off the earlier scene and cements the image of the character as an inhuman prick. Cyril wrote: I dunno. Somewhat late to the party, here, but I finally got around to listening to this episode, and I have to say, it was really awesome to get to listen to an on-the-fly adventure creation session. It was mentioned earlier in the thread that it's a big boon to be able to bounce plot ideas off of someone else during the creation process. I've been co-GMing a Legacy Era campaign for over two years now (with Tealfox here on the forums), and man, I have learned firsthand how much better adventure planning and plot scripting work when you have another voice in there to tell you when something sucks, or make a minor suggestion that turns a decent moment into an amazing, memorable scene. This episode had all the makings of that, and I had a lot of fun just getting to listen to people talk out loud. Also, I'm a writer, and so plotting stories is something I have to do all the time, as well, and getting such a textured insight into the thought processes of several people at once was really super-valuable just from a passive research perspective. Great episode, guys! And for what it's worth, my only regret is that the contents of the adventure itself have already been spoiled for me if I ever came across it being run at a convention somewhere.

This is my favourite episode so far and whenever I'm fishing for inspiration I'm listening to this or episode 130, but I just wanted to know if anyone has done a write up of this session. I have some new players keen on getting into SWSE and this one shot would be perfect for them.

I've sketched up the maps needed to run the session, and put some of the plot points down on paper with the intent to write it up as a playable adventure outline, but it's unlikely to progress further until after Gen Con.

That's exciting! I'd love to see the maps! I'm happy to flesh out the plot points off of whatever you have if someone wishes to stat-block the NPCs (I'm terrible at making stat-blocks atm, still trying to practise at it though). I can wait until after Gen Con
