Have to say that tFUCG has quite a few neat new toys to play with.

For you high-Strength melee monsters out there, check out the Power Hammer

Wookiees have a doozy of a weapon in the Ryyk Blade. Think one-handed vibro-ax, and then add dual-wielding. Again,

There's also the flechette launcher and rail detonator guns for range-monkeys, as well as the Bryar pistol and rifle, and the disruptor weapons if you really want to be mean to your players.

For non-violent gear, there's the decoy glowrod (I wonder if a version can be made to hide a lightsaber in?) and the Hush-About Jetpack. Can't forget the assassin's friend, the sound sponge, either to better conceal your hiding spot if your a sniper-type or muffle the dying gurgles if your of the classic "knife in the dark" modus operandi.

The Ryyk Blade sounds like GM Dave's new best friend. And btw, I think a glowrod saber could definately exist. I mean Corran Horn's saber was a speeder bike handlebar. Otherwise, I think Jaina used this excuse on board the Anakin Solo, calling hers a "high-powered glowrod"

how about some talk about cool combinations of the templates and accessories in KOTORCG with tech spec modifications on common weapons blaster pistols, heavy blaster pistols, blaster carbines, rifles, vibroweapons

and maybe throwing in some talk about tactics and builds that synergize like a heavy blaster pistol tech spec'ed for additional damage with the beam splitter accessory, and the power blast feat, with triple crit, and a destiny point for an autocrit (which would let you trade in all your BAB for 2xBAB extra damage, and then the total damage being tripled, just don't use it against a jedi with deflect)

In all its glory on Star Wars: The Clone Wars episode #3
The Clone Era Y-Wing!
Image
There should be a distinction between the "full fairing" version shown above, and the version highlighted in the Core book/Starships book and the ever-useful Complete Cutaways book. (that kept the Episode IV:ANH body-lines but offered a form-fitting body plating.)

I wouldn't presume that the Clone wars era craft was exactly the same, just with bunches of hollow space under there or a few armor points more. There had to be some kind of fundamental content in there. Was it more ammo for missile/torpedo launchers? Was it a less compact hyperdrive array? (considering the continued use of the drive ring adapter for the Aethersprite) Shield generators? Cargo space? What?

Yes, it's sleek and kewl, but what was in there?

So four versions. (in reverse chronological order)

Longprobe model

ANH model

Cutaways model

Clone Wars model

I'd also have to put in a second vote for the whole hyperdrive thing as well. Having a Hyperdrive built in a fighter up to this point seems to be fundamental departure from all previous fightercraft design. Additional "contemporary" fighters like the Z-95 are also long established as non-hyperdrive capable craft.

All other craft of comparable size to date have been exclusively carrier based, with the exception of the Aethersprite, which still has need of the Hyperdrive ring option.

With the bulk of the Y-wing to work from, added to the "full fairing" addition,. now you are getting on towards a craft with a body comparable to General Grievious' ship that OWK stole (appropriated) after defeating him.

I can see this progenitor Y-wing also heralding the beginning of the Hyperdrive equipped fighter concept for the SWU, and needing the bulkier body to get away with it considering the tech of the time.

Refinements over the period leading up to the appeances in ANH (and thet cutaways version) have done away with the need for the additional volume.

So what are the SAGA specs on one of these banthas, and does Watto have any on the used ship lot? (MR5M1TH needs a new ride)

I'm figuring the Clone Wars era model probably had a bit more armor plating (hit points), and was also done for aesthetic reasons. The Y-Wing the Rebels used has a different model number, and probably had the excess plating stripped off to cut costs and make repairs easier, with the shields tweaked a bit to compensate.

Just throwing this out their. Can Watto get me a very special starship from my heart? I'm looking for the Ebon Hawk, not the 'Hawk during the Old Republic (I can get those stats in the KoTOR book) but the hawk five hundred years after the Battle of Yavin.

I can work on it for ya, sir... but I'll tell you right now what Watto will do.

He'll take the Ebon Hawk stats (canon from the KotORCG) and apply the "Junker" template (from SotG) to it.

that's what I did at first (apply the template), but I didn't think it did enough degradation of the ship. Applying the template more than once though, twice seems to have done the trick. Tell Watto I need his services no longer.

I'm thinking that one archaic template addition per era that the ship has been through. Sounds good to me.

Does Watto know of an old Clone Wars DC-17 dealer? Something that can shoot rpg rounds, fire sighted range rounds, in addition to normal blaster duty?

Hmm, for that matter, I would be looking for an old DC-15 pistol. The self-charging one that some Republic Commandos use.

Thanks,
Duncan

Something I home brewed. Tell me if you think of it, and maybe Watto will run an ad for it on some podcast no one listens to.

Anti-Blaster Aerosol
Size: Tiny Cost: Varies

Anti-blaster aerosol spray breaks down the energy blast that makes up blaster bolts. The spray can weaken or eliminate the threat of blaster fire. The spray effects a 6 square area. The blaster is weakened by one die per 2,000 credits spent on the spray. Thus a blast from a blaster pistol entering an area where 2,000 credit grade aerosol has been sprayed would then deal 2d6 damage, 1d6 for 4,000, and would deal no damage for 6,000 credit grade. The effect lasts for 10 rounds. Each can of the aerosol is good for 10 sprays.
