Just got finished listening to Episode 159 (well, technically not *finished,* because post-show's still rolling). Great show, guys, and it's whet my appetite for another Time To Play segment, hence my request.

I love me some noir.

Philip Marlowe, Sam Spade... Hell, I'll even take Rigby Reardon, and I would love to give my players the opportunity to step into that type of gumshoe goo. Star Wars has a long love affair with the MacGuffin, and I'd love to hear you guys expand on how to set the stage for a one or two game reach into this idiom, much like you did with the ideas of darkness and description in the Horror episode.

---

Side note... Dave, I'm running under the belief that you were producing 159? I've had those feedback/echo issues from the primary while recording before, and the culprit turned out to be my headphones being too loud. I've noticed that the podcast is recorded low before, so this is where my mind goes right to for troubleshooting. (I personally head into ProTools and both normalize the show and boost the gain before listening, which helps immensely with episodes where someone is Skypeing in on their cellphone.) Hopefully this helps, or if you *did* solve the problem, what caused it?

I agree. The first Saga thing I wrote was 300 BBY Corellian noir, which was a lose adaptation of a Bloodshadows module. I've outlined two more adventures to complete the trilogy. I'll work more on these once I finish running Dawn of Defiance.

Nice, I'd love to see what you come up with for those if you'll be sharing!

Not sure if I'll develop it for Saga or the new system. We'll see how everything pans out.

This may have been covered in noir. I'm only halfway through the episode. I would love to hear Chris and Dave talk about the specific kind of espionage genre where the partnered npc turns out to be the bbeg. Tough to run. Could be impossible to pull off with groups that will shoot any npc that smiles wrong at them. While we're on the subject, how about how in this genre there's a seduction of a pc or two. Like Indy & Last Crusade. How do you play that off well?

OK. I've run these successfully, but I thought it would be fun to hear your guys' take on them:

Comedy.

Political intrigue.

I second the intrigue request. And I would also like a Time to Play on...Star Wars: how to get back to the dramatic, fantastic, and sci-fi roots of the universe we all love. Sometimes I'll notice that, while my games are fun, they just don't feel like Star Wars. A show on how to get that theme back would be great.

I'd like to put in a request for a Western-themed segment. Star Wars is great for stories of the "open range," and I kinda like having my heroes adventure on backwater worlds and rob trains and whatnot. It's also cool because you can throw in whatever "Western" elements you want in there, but also still have blasters and other advanced tech, like they do in Firefly and in the film Cowboys & Aliens.
Anyway, your thoughts on how to properly introduce the Wild West into a Star Wars game would be greatly appreciated!

It appears to have pod-faded :( don't suppose you have any of their mp3s lying around?

As another possible idea, how about conspiracy/espionage thrillers? Examples of such being No Way Out with Kevin Costner, Manchurian Candidate, and Enemy of the State. Noir covers the seedy side of things, while the conspiracy/espionage often has the heroes dealing with people of great power and influence, any and all of whom have something to hide.

Agreed! Bring on the spaghetti western.
