Re: #14 The Power Source - Beware The Cliff!
I episode as usual, but I have a general question for you.
I've always been a bit leery about allowing players to use powers and feats found within Dragon. My concern is that these powers/feats have not been playtested enough for balance, fill holes that were meant to be there so that class do not become uber powered, or can be comboed in such a way as to break a class.
Am I being overly paranoid?
This also might be a good issue for the show, DM limits on what is used within there campaigns.
All the best Sandy

Once again, nice co-host! Phil aka 'Chatty DM' always surprises me with his insightful gems. During the Q&A section, Phil really shined with his answer to the killer players question. The 'synergy bonus' was golden. Thanks for the insight!
Though I love the goofy bumpers, I wish that you could occassionally break the format of the show to better utilise the strengths of your co-hosts. You and Phil could easily have an even better show if you stuck to only DM related topics. I don't mean that to detract from this episode. Like all the episodes, I look forward to and enjoy every one of them.
Your coverage of hybrids was great, btw. I find that I enjoy the 'synergy bonus' and cooperative play far more than most other elements of the game. The thought of hybrid characters just makes me cringe. I think I will be seeing many more ineffective 'role' characters.

See now, I listened to this episode, and I throughly enjoyed it. It was very good. And Phil the Chatty DM is a great guuest co-host (have hard him on the Tome before as well). The only thing I can say that I "disliked" was the new transition to the Chaos of elements, which is only because you can barely hear the talking in it.
I loved the segment, especially about failure not being the end. Kind of like that in Shadowrun as well.
As far as the time travel and the party "killing Hitler", in those cases, I would subscribe to the "pebble in the river" effect, where even if they did kill the king/tyrant/etc, someone else would take his place and the flow of time probably wouldn't even notice it effect-wise.
Thanks for the podcast!
Eric

Re: #14 The Power Source - Beware The Cliff!
Really enjoyed the podcast. I am Mark from the Martial Practices section, and I used you and Phil's advice about upping the damage of the monsters this last Monday and it worked great. My tactics were a bit sketchy, but it the intensity of the game really increased. I dropped the Pacifist Cleric, while the Paladin was seperated and couldn't protect her, then I dropped the rogue after he administered a healing potion to the cleric. It was great! They ended up defeating the encounter, but it was tougher than it has been in the past.
Thanks again for the advice, and keep up the great show!
