Post #13 Remember To Eat Your Martial Practices Cereal
Gamer Nation, Turn your decoder pins to B2!

Yes, #13 The Power Source - Remember To Eat Your Martial Practices Cereal is available for download, and it's not just a crummy commecial. This week, my co-host is my brother, Dustin Glenn! We discuss D&D Experience, hash out Swordmages, and share An Underdark Christmas!

Go ahead and talk the episode up here! And, as always, you can download it on our site www.powersourcepodcast.com and get additional info on the show! If you'd like to contact me, the best way is through powersourcepodcast@gmail.com . Send us your questions, comments, bumpers, and segments!

You will also notice that, in an effort to involve our listeners in the cast, the show has a different co-host each week. The desire to bring new personalities onto the show and share air-time was part of the reason that Scott left the Cast, as it has been my desire to make this a listener show from the start. As such, it will continue in this way even when we bring another regular co-host into the program. This will keep the opinions and advice from becoming stale, and provide different angles on covered materials. My priority has always been to make this show about you, and I hope that counts for something.

As such, I would also like to invite you, the listener, to join me on the show. Doing a short segment is an excellent way to get involved, but, if you think you can hold down an entire episode as co-host (and it's much easier than you think it is), I'd invite you to drop me a line at powersourcepodcast@gmail.com . This next month is fairly full, as we have some intriguing personalities lined up, but I want to put the word out early enough for you to consider making your voice heard.

By the way. Yes, I mean you. :)

Thanks eveyone! You really make this show great!

Actually, I agree.

Let me be clear. It was always my intention to have permanant hosts on The Power Source. I find that having constant voices are a great asset to a Podcast, and I'd like to get back to having two hosts. It is, however, important to me that both hosts are willing to share the spotlight with our listeners by showing support for Martial Practices, Segments, Contributers, and additional Guest Hosts. That's all.

As soon as I can find a co-host who enjoys listener participation as much as I do and can commit to the show, I assure you that The Power Source will be a two man show once again. In fact, I look forward to it.

My desire to swap out Guest Hosts is a desire to keep the show fresh and, if there are still constant voices, I'll argue that this won't be jarring in the slightest. On the contrary, I'm certain that the show will be better for it.

And no, I certainly don't intend to swap myself out for a guest host. :) Again, that would be against what I wanted to do with the show from the start.

I hope that was more clear. I really enjoy all the questions, comments, bumpers, and segments that all of you continue to send. When I say that this show is great because of you, I'm not displaying veiled modesty. I really believe that. So thanks.

Haven't quite finished the cast, but I like the segment about being adaptive as a GM. Good examples there.

In fact, I like the "guest host" approach, as it brings new, fresh, and sometimes unexpected voices to the discussion. Fixed hosts can bring familiarity, so as a subject comes up, I wind up thinking, "Oh, I know exactly what X and Y will say." That's not necessarily a bad thing, and I imagine it would have to be easier to sync the same schedules on a weekly basis.

So why not consider both options? If you do manage to find that perfect co-host, leave the door open for a third new, fresh, etc. voice to join you guys. All I ask (beg, plead) is that you don't go the route of some podcasts, and invite a dozen people to the show. Having a crowd all commenting at once makes my head hurt.

Now, with that out of the way, allow me to heap all sorts of kudos onto the show. Always informative, often entertaining, never boring, I have not yet listened to a show where I didn't walk away with something extremely valuable and immediately applicable to my current game. The construction of the show is intuitive and inspired (breaking it into Power Source chapters, genius!), and the length of each chapter is exactly right. Thanks for all the work. I always look forward to the next episode.

Thank you! That's high praise indeed!

I was just about to suggest that you write a review on iTunes ... when I saw you already had! Awesome!

I agree with your middle ground idea, and I really hope I can do that. And don't worry, I can't even imagine the editing nightmare of 10 people talking at once. :O Three (maybe four if I have a really good reason) will be the most we ever bring on. :)

Jared already knows this, but I've been a strong proponent of the 'host-of-the-week' approach since Scott left, primarily because very few other podcasts do it. F'rinstance - I love RFH. They have a distinct style, colorful hosts and timely info. But they're never going to have Dave Noonan on the show; that's just not what they do. I like the fact that the Power Source addresses the larger 4E community, sort of like how MostlyJoe does things on Meanwhile... or Jeff Greiner's Tome Show.

By the way, I got a big kick out of the new Power Source phone number. Area code not withstanding, it's very close to my old number back in Ohio. In fact now that I'm looking at it, you could spell FULPOWA with that old number. Wow.
